Battles of Chinese Zodiac － 12 animals showing off each's super power!

“Battles of Chinese Zodiac” is a mobile game designed specifically for smart phones and pads. It is a simple and fun game that can be played by everyone. No matter you are playing it alone, with family members, or with friends, you will have great fun with it.

First, you need to pick a zodiac animal to start the battle. You can then choose a Basic, Norm, or Pro difficulty level (determined by number and speed of the animals) to join the battle.

The scoring rule is very simple - Catch the chosen animal and throw it into the heaven’s gate that is slowly closing as time goes by. The wider the gate’s opening, the smaller the animal, the faster the animal, and the further the animal, the higher the score.

The game ends in two conditions:

1) The wrong animal was thrown into the gate.

2) The number of escaped animals exceeds the allowed number that is set to 5 when the game starts. Whenever 10 animals are correctly thrown into the gate, the allowed number will increase by 1 and the gate will be lifted up for 10 more seconds before the closing time. Also, some of the chosen animal labeled with red XX or XXXX will show up randomly. Capturing them will earn doubled or quadrupled score, add 1 or 2 to total allowed escaped animal number, and lift the gate for 5 or 10 more seconds before closing. Therefore, it is very important for you to capture these red-labeled animals if you want to gain high scores.

Total Score, Game Level – Escaped / Allowed / Captured – Total Play Time, and Last Capture Score are displayed on top of the game screen. Also the ratio of remaining allowed against total allowed escaped animals is shown as a blue energy bar on top of the game screen as well.

When the game ends, you can submit your score to the leader board. There are three kinds of lead board meaning there are three ways to play the game.

1) The first way is to play it alone and against all players in the world. You can then check the world leader board.

2) The second way is to play with a group of people when everyone in the group enters a unique group ID (which can be group organizer’s mobile number) before submitting the score. You can then select the group’s ID before checking the group’s leader board. You can also select an animal from the group ID menu to see the ranking of the players of the selected animal.

3) The third way is to play the game using the same phone or pad with family members. After each game play, the player’s name is entered and the profile photo is selected before submitting the score. You can then choose the local leader board to see the ranking of the players. The first two ways require Internet connection. The third way does not need Internet connection and it is very fast to submit the scores and display the local leader board.

Dr. Andy Parng is a serial entrepreneur now working in Beijing to focus on the China mobile markets and promoting LiveCode in China. He worked at Apple for three and was one of the key contributors of Apple Macintosh User Interface Design Guidelines. From 2005 to 2009, he managed the entire Trend Micro consumer product line with a 60-million user base and US$400 million annual revenue.
